This switch fits perfectly in the Omada Controller and does everything you want it to. Its small, light and performs amazing for its price range - especially if you get in on a deal or trade up program.
However, I believe this is a "fanless" model, even though I do see what looks like a fan on the right side. This thing gets HOT, that right side on the bottom is almost too hot to touch. I dont know if this is a defective unit, or if its supposed to have a fan and just doesnt?
Regardless, I have been working with enterprise level switches for a while and I would gladly trade a little noise from a single fan that deal with the heat this thing kicks out.
Been using switch for the last week, extremely powerful and very quiet
I needed a managed switch that would allow me to upgrade to multigigabit (2.5Gb). This switch advertised static routing, 2.5Gb, 4 x 10Gb SFP+, and IPv6 capabilities. I wanted to use the switch for all intervlan routing. Well, turns out you can't if you want to use IPv6. This switch has no ability to send out RAs, so IPv6 routing is only possible if you statically assign EVERYTHING. DHCP6 or SLAAC? Nope, this switch isn't for you.
So, I had to redesign my network layout and essentially just turn this switch into a 'dumb' L2 switch. Could've saved money purchasing a different L2 switch if I'd known this switch doesn't support ALL IPv6 features. Tech support (before sales) was also useless. Don't expect them to know anything more than what you can read for yourself on the website.
Also, you can't configure this switch manually and then import it into your omada controller without it going sideways on you. I had to use a separate console cable (the one included is useless since it's a DB9 serial cable we all stopped using over a decade ago). For now it's just managed as a standalone since I can't trust the process of importing into my omada controller.
I'm quite disappointed in the experience but will continue to use the switch since it still provides me quiet, multigigabit networking. TP-Link really has a way to go for improvements.
Switch came nicely package. I plugged it in, connected a patch cable and Omada controller found it and set it up quickly. So far no issues with it. I have setup LAG on two of the 10GB ports and using Vlans.
This was an upgrade over a 24 port 1g switch. I was able to get the Omada switch up and running and integrated with the controller software running in docker on an old PC and now have the foundation for a much improved home network and wifi. It was a little painful getting the switch up and talking to my other devices as it defaults to managed mode and a 192.168.0.x ip, which was different than my default subnet at home, but easily remedied through the console port. Very pleased so far
