I had to replace my old router because it was definitely starting to show its age. It had served me well for years, but I wanted something more modern, especially with cloud management and an easier way to set up and manage VPNs.
I had also just purchased the Omada SG3218XP-M2 v2.0 switch to replace my old switch and take advantage of 2.5Gbps speeds, so it made sense to stay with the Omada ecosystem and manage everything from one place.
The price was right, and installation was surprisingly easy and straightforward. I really like the LCD display on the gateway, which gives you quick access to information such as temperature, upload/download speeds, and other system details. It’s a nice feature that you don't always see on networking equipment in this price range.
Setting up VLANs was also very easy. I was able to separate my work devices from all of my IoT devices without any hassle, which was one of the main reasons I wanted to upgrade.
I currently only have 300Mbps Internet, but I like knowing that I'm no longer limited to 1Gbps when fiber eventually becomes available. With support for up to 2.5Gbps, this gateway should give me plenty of room to grow and makes it feel pretty future-proof for my needs.
I'm also planning to add some Wi-Fi 7 Omada access points to complete the setup. I know newer versions of this gateway are coming with features like PoE and additional ports, but honestly, the current model does everything I need right now. Being able to manage everything remotely from pretty much anywhere is a huge plus.
Overall, I'm really impressed with how much functionality Omada packed into such a small device. For the price and what it offers, it has been a great upgrade and fits perfectly into my new Omada setup.
Easy setup. Vlans, 3AP's, 3 switches..so far no issues. Also setup Openvpn, ipv6, ddns, port forwarding, and dpi for applications. . Awesome device.
Excellent product. Satisfied with the performance of the router and its stability. I appreciate the fact that I no longer have to purchase licenses for other Omada gear in the network to be managed via the cloud. Not taking full advantage of the 2.5G yet. Can't wait to upgrade my internet to a 2-gig plan and upgrade my 3 TP-Link Omada EAP 650's to the new Wifi 7 Omada 7's.
Very well designed. Compact for ita performance. 200 devices and full IPS enabled, filtering and about 30 ACLs. CPU is no where near loaded.
This is my first SDN, upgrading from the typical home router with extenders. Wow! The level of control is amazing. Aside from the Fusion 2.5G, I purchased a SG2210XMP-M2 PoE switch and three WiFi 7 AP's. The setup was simple, and getting the entire network configured (ACLs, port forwarding, VLANs) and running was relatively easy. The documentation could be a little better, but was good enough to get everything setup properly. The Insights portion of the WebUI is especially nice! Would definitely purchase again.
